Modern Family Home Refresh - Finishing Details
This home had been beautifully renovated before my clients moved in, but the finishing touches were never completed - leaving the main living spaces feeling a bit bare and undefined. As an interior designer, my goal was to transform these already solid foundations into warm, functional, and beautifully cohesive rooms tailored to a growing family.
We introduced thoughtful storage solutions, cozy textiles, and purposeful styling to ground the main living area and create a space that finally felt lived-in and loved.
One of the biggest impact moments was reimagining the front entryway. The original bench occupied only a fraction of the wall, leaving valuable space unused. We expanded the bench to run the full length of the entry, creating a more intentional welcome zone with hidden storage, dedicated drop zones, and a feeling of architectural purpose. The result: cleaner floors, better organization, and a more elevated first impression.
Upstairs, the former guest bedroom was reimagined into a shared kids’ room—a playful yet practical retreat that maximizes space while giving each child a sense of ownership. The primary bedroom received subtle but impactful adjustments to enhance comfort, flow, and serenity.
In the basement, we designed the ultimate dual-purpose zone: part kids’ haven, part comfortable guest suite, complete with a stylish pull-out sofa for easy hosting.
This project showcases how the right layering, storage, and design finesse can turn an “almost finished” renovation into a polished, functional home. Perfect for families looking to elevate their spaces with the help of a New Jersey interior designer focused on both beauty and practicality.
